Hello !
If you found yourself at this publication and are wondering what its about, read on for a brief summary.
What is Care Earth Trust ?
Care Earth Trust, established in the year 2000, is engaged in biodiversity conservation for human wellbeing through research, advocacy and capacity building. Since its inception, it has evolved to be an equal opportunity, non-discriminating organization with a pan India presence.
In addition to assessing human impact on the environment, the organization recommends evidence based strategies and action for the mitigation of adverse impacts and increasing ecosystem resilience. It also provides technical services in areas such as biodiversity inventorying and monitoring and in developing training and capacity building initiatives on conservation.
You can read more about our projects at our website www.careearthtrust.org
Why a newsletter ?
We had been wanting to share updates from our research work and projects for a while and we finally took the plunge in June 2021 on World Environment Day. While we were initially working with a PDF document, we have now shifted to Substack hoping to have more engagement with our readers.
Why the name Ainthinai ?
Ainthinai represents our work across major cultural landscapes. It is also an ode to the wisdom of Tamilagam which not only recognised four major landscape types but also a fifth - desertification as a condition. When we were discussing names for our fledgling newsletter, Ainthinai won our hearts with unanimous consensus.
